Sending a message
using print media
Training and education opportunities took another
step forward with the news from the
Manchester Evening News media group that
Bolton University is offering degree
courses at one of Wythenshawes academies,
Newall Green High
School.
Newall Green High School,
as a Vocational College, is specialising in the
study of Arts, Science with Mathematics and and is promoting the use of print media in the local community.
A mix of social media and print media will bring businesses, charities,
social groups to the notice of the local community. Flyers can be
distributed through community centres, health centres, sports and leisure
centres and libraries.
Posters and free standing roll up banners have a
visual impact particularly useful in community spaces such as foyers and
entrance areas. Whilst electronic communication has the advantage of
immediacy print media requires less capital investment and is readily
portable and accessible to all strata of society. Roll up banners can be
easily supplemented by 'pop-up banners' and as a low tech solution Minuteman
Press, Stockport is able to take a design to finished product in a matter of
days.
Sharston Social Enterprise to take a giant leap

Following twenty years of street level interaction with youngsters in
the Wythenshawe area it has become clearer that one of the keys to changing
round peoples lives is breaking the circle of crime, prison, crime.
To this end The Message is opening a million pound Enterprise Centre in
Sharston. The derelict building is to be re-equipped to allow 50 youngsters
to use their acumen to create businesses in
landscaping, gardening, car maintenance, cleaning, catering, and the health
and beauty and print.
To
spread the good news print media is being used to reach the supporters and
interested parties with the details of the plans. Colour brochures have been
produced and details have been published in The Messages regular magazine:
'Flow'. 'Flow' is the quality magazine produced by the in-house graphics
team. The publishing arms latest book in print is called 'The Message
20' and retails at £20 to include a CD of 'World Wide Message Tribe' classic
music tracks and more recent numbers from Message bands such as 'Twelve 24'.

books to promote the good news such as 'Hope Unleashed' and 'Eden-Called To
The Streets'.
'The Message' has a vision to work with the hardest to reach young people in
